Paul Wesley grew up in Marlboro Township, New Jersey. Born to Polish immigrants, he and his three sisters stayed in touch with their family and friends in Poland by visiting them often throughout their childhood years. The school Paul attended provided opportunities for students to perform in plays every year, beginning in the first grade. As he grew, so did his love for acting and his ability to do so.
Paul started his television career while a junior in high school. He appeared in such television shows as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Another World and Guiding Light while working toward his high school diploma. He enrolled in Rutgers University when he completed high school but after about a year, Paul realized that he wanted to focus his full attention on acting.
Paul has been playing a vampire on The Vampire Diaries series on television for several years now, while continuing to appear in various other shows, such as The Originals, Crossing Jordan, Army Wives, Shark, Fallen and many others. His film career has taken off also with roles in numerous films like Cloud Nine, Killer Movie and The Last Run.
In recent years, Paul has been involved in a variety of projects that he is proud to be part of. He was the producer for the movie Before I Disappear while also playing the part of Gideon. The director, Shawn Christensen, and Paul have been good friends for years and worked long and hard to transform the original short film into the finished product, a full length movie. In another movie that came out recently, Amira and Sam, Paul Wesley plays Charlie, who runs an investment firm on Wall Street while scheming to get rich quick.
Making his first appearance on a New York stage in the play Cal In Camo, Paul plays a widower named Flynt. He is struggling along with his sister and brother-in-law to make sense of life. Paul Wesley is brilliant as Flynt, revealing a depth to his talent that is amazing.
